Ponce Inlet, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Volusia County (DOH-Volusia) is lifting the advisory for high bacterial levels at the following location:

Oceanview Avenue Beach Access
4701 S. Atlantic Ave.
Ponce Inlet, FL 32127

Tests completed on November 2 indicate that the water quality at Oceanview Avenue Beach Access shows an acceptable level of Enterococcus bacteria established by state guidelines.

On October 29, DOH-Volusia issued a water quality advisory for Oceanview Avenue Beach Access along with Lighthouse Point Park at 5000 S. Atlantic Ave. in Ponce Inlet. A secondary test at Lighthouse Point Park completed on November 2 showed that this location still does not meet the recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria recommended by the Florida Department of Health. Therefore, DOH-Volusia still advises against any water-related activities at this location due to an increased risk of illness in swimmers. This advisory will continue until bacteria levels are below the accepted health level.
