Register for the Special Needs Shelter Program

Elderly, physically, mentally or sensory disabled, visually or hearing impaired residents or those who need supplemental oxygen should register for the Special Needs Shelter program with Volusia County Emergency Management. Register using the link above or call the Volusia County Citizen Hotline, 866-345-0345.

Special Needs Shelters

When hurricanes threaten Volusia County, the county's emergency operations center receives many calls concerning special needs shelters.

Volusia County Emergency Management and Florida Division of Emergency Management are coordinating efforts to provide assistance to individuals with disabilities or functional medical needs during a disaster through the Functional/Special Needs Registration Program.
