School Health

Florida Department of Health in Volusia County School Health

Through an agreement with the Volusia County School Board, the School Health Program serves all school-age children in Volusia County's public schools. The program's goal is to improve and protect the health status of students through prevention, maintenance, and education. Services include screenings for vision, hearing, nutritional status and scoliosis, health assessments, emergency treatment, first aid, specialized skilled direct care, educational programs, immunization and record monitoring, home visits, and parent, faculty, and physician conferences.

The school health team is comprised of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and health support technicians who are available on each school campus during the school day to respond to the health care needs of the students.

The Department of Health in Volusia County and the Volusia County School Board continually seek to link with other community partners to improve the health of students. These partnerships create healthy, happy, productive future citizens. Healthy students are successful students.
