DOH-Volusia Expands Dental Care for West Volusia Hospital Clients

April 18, 2016

Volusia County, Fla. - The Department of Health (DOH) in Volusia County now is providing West Volusia’s low-income residents another option for dental care. The department recently began providing emergency dental care for West Volusia Hospital Authority clients.

“Dental health is directly correlated with good overall health,” said DOH-Volusia Administrator Patricia Boswell. “Our mission is to protect, promote and improve health and that includes oral health. A person cannot be healthy when they have dental pain.”

Men, women and children who are active clients of the West Volusia Hospital Authority can be seen at the DOH-Volusia dental clinic at 120 E. New York Ave., Suite E, Deland and the Daytona Beach dental clinic at 1845 Holsonback Dr., Daytona Beach.

Services are provided at no cost to the client, Boswell added. However, appointments are required.

“This is in addition to our promise to treat any child up to age 18 who does not have insurance or a dentist and is experiencing tooth pain,” Boswell added.

Adults and children with insurance also may receive routine and preventive dental care at the Department’s dental clinics. The clinics accept clients with Medicaid, Sunshine Dental Health and Wellness for Foster Care Children, Healthy Kids, CMS, Ped-i-care, and Head-Start coverage.

DOH-Volusia County is one of two providers contracted to provide dental care to the Authority’s clients. The Authority is an independent special taxing district established by the State of Florida to provide access to health care for the taxing district’s qualified indigent residents, according to the Authority’s website.

For more information or to make an appointment, please call the DOH-Volusia dental clinic in Deland at 386-736-5194 or Daytona Beach at 386-274-0895
