Never leave a child alone in a car.
Remember to A-C-T.
Avoid heatstroke. Never leave your child alone in a car, not even for a minute. Lock your car when not in use to ensure children don't have access.
Create reminders. Put something important next to your child (purse, wallet, cellphone) that you'll need when you stop.
Take action. Call 911 if you see a child alone in a car.
Everyone can help prevent hot car deaths
Create a Routine:- Put something you need at your destination in the back seat: a laptop, employee badge, purse, etc.
- Place a toy on the front passenger seat as a reminder when the child is in the back seat.
- Set a reminder alarm on your cell phone or digital calendar to drop your child off at child care.
- For changes in routine for child care drop-off, make sure you and the other person communicate to confirm the drop-off was made.
- Ask your child care provider to contact you if your child hasn't arrived as scheduled.
- Ask your vehicle or child seat manufacturer if they offer technology for an alert system for back seat passengers.
- Always lock your car when you aren't using it. Even if you don't have a child of your own, a child in your neighborhood could get into your unlocked vehicle and get trapped.
- If you see a child alone in a locked car, act immediately and call 911. A child in distress due to heat should be removed from the vehicle as quickly as possible and rapidly cooled.
