Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT)
Florida Department of Health in Volusia County Tobacco Prevention
Fact: More than 90% of smokers start before age 18.
Our children are the targets of tobacco advertising. In Volusia County, they have a platform to fight back against the tobacco industry.
Through Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT), the department works to keep Volusia's youth from becoming the next generation of smokers. SWAT youth across the county educate their peers and fight back against the industry that targets them. They attend health fairs on school campuses and in the community. They also share the dangers of tobacco on social media and work on policy change in local communities.
Middle and high school students are eligible to participate. Call us to join.

Help us protect young adults from secondhand smoke
