DOH-Volusia - Tobacco Free Volusia County Partnership to Meet August 28th
August 21, 2017
The meeting agenda includes discussion of employer tobacco policies and the Tobacco 21 Initiative, a nationwide effort to raise the legal age for purchasing tobacco products, also will be discussed.
Each year employers lose thousands of dollars due to employee tobacco use. The Partnership has been working to help employers transition toward tobacco-free worksites and workforces. The no-cost assistance includes setting a timeline and hosting free smoking cessation classes on-site.
The Partnership is a county-wide, locally organized group committed to saving lives and improving the overall health and wellbeing of residents and visitors by reducing and/or eliminating the use of tobacco products. The Partnership is organized to advocate on the local, state and national level for prevention of the initiation of tobacco use among youth, protection from secondhand smoke, and promotion of tobacco cessation.
