DOH-Volusia - No-Cost Rapid HIV Tests June 27 – National HIV Testing Day

By Holly Smith

June 16, 2017

Daytona Beach, Fla. - National HIV Testing Day is Tuesday, June 27. The Florida Department of Health (DOH) in Volusia County encourages everyone to learn their status with a no-cost, rapid HIV test. Tests are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at DOH-Volusia locations in Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach and Orange City.

"Everyone should take advantage of this opportunity to confirm their HIV status," said DOH-Volusia Administrator Patricia Boswell. "When a person knows their status, they can protect themselves and their partners."

Rapid HIV testing only requires a finger stick to collect a small drop of blood and produces results within 15 minutes. If test results indicate a blood draw is needed to confirm the rapid results, it also can be done at no-cost onsite, Boswell added.

Clients may remain anonymous for testing.

The Department also offers educational information on HIV transmission and protection and counseling. DOH-Volusia provides HIV treatment and services through the Ryan White Program for clients who qualify.

Appointments are not necessary. For more information, please call 386-274-0662.
