DOH-Volusia Community Health Town Hall Meeting

By Holly Smith

June 06, 2016

Input sought from Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach residents

Volusia County, Fla. - The Florida Department of Health (DOH) in Volusia County wants to learn more about the health needs of the Daytona and New Smyrna Beach communities. Residents are encouraged to provide input at interactive town hall meetings at:

  • 6 p.m., Thursday, June 23, at the Midtown Cultural and Education Center, 925 George W. Engram Blvd., Daytona Beach.

  • 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, at the Alonzo ‘Babe’ James Community Center, 201 N Myrtle Avenue, New Smyrna Beach.

The town hall meetings include a short overview of current health data, followed by an opportunity for citizens to provide input. Results from the meetings will be incorporated into the 2016-2019 Volusia County Health Improvement Plan.

“Our focus will be on listening to the health needs, ideas and concerns of Volusia County residents,” said Dr. Laureen Husband, DOH-Volusia community planning and assessment. “We want residents to tell us about their efforts to lead a healthy life and brainstorm ways we can systematically address them.”

All area residents and community leaders are encouraged to attend.

The June town hall meetings are part of countywide series. Last month, meetings were held in Pierson and DeLand.

For more information, please contact Dr. Husband at 386-274-0624.
