Volusia County kids are in for the BEST.SUMMER.EVER.
Enrollment begins April 25

DAYTONA BEACH - The Best. Summer. Ever. is a new community program that encourages young people to be physically fit over the summer while collecting incentives from participating locations along the way. Enrollment begins on Saturday, April 25 in collaboration with the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day event which will be held at five different YMCA locations in Volusia County.

“Childhood obesity is a major concern nationwide and programs that encourage physical activity are important to improve the health and well-being of all children,” said Ron Rondeau, interim director, Florida Department of Health in Volusia County. “We are excited about offering this program that encourages youngsters to be active.”

The Best. Summer. Ever. Scorecard encourages youth between the ages of 9-13 years old to seek out opportunities in Volusia County for fun and physical activity. This program offers eligible children and youth an opportunity to have fun being physically fit while filling up a scorecard to receive cool deals from participating organizations and businesses in Volusia County.

In order to receive a scorecard, youth must have their parent/guardian complete an enrollment form and submit it to one of the enrollment locations. Youth can attend the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day event on April 25 to enroll or access the enrollment form online (www.HealthyVolusia.Com/BestSummerEver/) to print, fill out and submit to one of the participating locations.

The Best. Summer. Ever. is sponsored by Florida Hospital-East Florida Region, Molina Healthcare, and Xplex Paintball. The supporting program partners are Healthy Volusia, Bethune-Cookman University, Volusia County Government, the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA, Boys and Girls Clubs of Volusia/Flagler Counties, One Voice for Volusia, Daytona Lagoon and the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County.

Organizations participating in the Best. Summer. Ever. do so on a voluntary, independent basis. There is no cost for children to sign up.
