Joani Jack, MD, FAAP
Medical director, Children's Healthy Eating and Active Living Center, and assistant professor, University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Dr. Jack will discuss how to use evidence-based motivational interviewing tools and techniques to engage patients and families and promote health behavior change in the pediatric setting.
The presentation includes practical tips, clinical pearls, and role-playing scenarios for successfully negotiating challenging patient encounters such as childhood obesity, smoking by parents, promotion of breastfeeding, vaccine refusal, and managing chronic illnesses.
