Prevent Cancer: The HPV Epidemic

 June 07, 2017 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Event Location

Daytona State College
1200 W International Speedway Blvd.
Daytona Beach , FL 32114

Hosted by The The Florida Department of Health in Volusia County

Do you know that some cancers are preventable?

Each year in Florida over 100,000 people are newly diagnosed with cancer and 1.3 million Floridians are living with cancer or a cancer history. Cancer is now the leading cause of death in Florida.

This conference will provide information on the importance of the HPV vaccine and its ability to prevent certain types of cancers in both men and women. It will provide much needed information to parents, students and community partners on how we can work together to prevent cancer associated with HPV by immunizing young people.

Attendees will learn about the virus and its cancer-causing traits, how that cancer can affect individuals and best practices on recommending the vaccine to parents at the recommended age.

This is a no-cost event.
