Greg Ballard, Financial Administrator

Swain StricklandGreg Ballard began his career with the State of Florida in 1990 with the Florida Department of Corrections. Over a ten year period he served in various fiscal and administrative positions including business manager at the Tomoka Correctional Institution here in Daytona Beach, and as the accounting services administrator at the Regional Service Center in Orlando.

In 2000, Greg joined the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County, first working in the Budget Office and then as the finance and accounting director. In 2005, he moved to the St. Johns County Health Department as the administrative services director.

Greg was recruited in 2007 as one of the four original members of the Administrative Services Field Support Team which is aligned under the Office of the Deputy Secretary for Statewide Services in Tallahassee. In this capacity he served as an administrative mentor, advisor, and trainer for newer fiscal managers and health officers around the state.

In July 2013, Greg returned to the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County as the organization’s financial administrator. This position is responsible for the supervision of accounting, budgeting, client billing, client eligibility, purchasing, contract administration, and vital statistics operations.

He graduated from Stetson University in 1980 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and again in 1981 with a Master’s in Business Administration.

Mr. Ballard is a lifelong resident of Volusia County having grown up in Daytona, near the Halifax Hospital. He spent his college years in DeLand; then raised a family in the Edgewater/New Smyrna area; and most recently resides in Port Orange.
